Producer Spotlight
There are so many fantastic local producers based across Denbighshire. From fresh, chemical-free vegetables to 100% grass fed beef, here are some of the producers making a difference.
The Vale Grocer
The Vale Grocers are Chris and Liz Kamine. Based on the Colomendy industrial estate in Denbigh, together they run a farm shop, as well as their own allotment filled with delicious local veg. They also run a farmer’s market on the first Saturday of every month.
Huw Foulkes, owner of Pentrefelin Dairy, is one of few farmers who take a “Calf-At Foot” approach to their farming. He also practices regenerative farming and permaculture. His products include 100% grass fed beef, duck eggs, and a number of dairy products.
Smithy Farm
Smithy Farm is run by Philip Lewis. His market garden is based in Llandyrnog, where he grows and sells a wide range of vegetables. He is also a beekeeper, producing and selling his own honey. His farmers market is based in Saughall, and runs every Saturday.
